Futuristic even.
I feel like I've been noticing more and more that we keep going back in time and referencing looks of decades past. There's been articles written about the subject recently, we aren't going forward in fashion, we have stayed the same, while advances in technology continue to become incredibly futuristic.
What have we done to usher in the new century and start looking more futuristic?
Not much.
I think that's why I love the lines of Rick Owens, Comme des Garcons and Rei Kawakubo so much.
They design futuristic clean, architectural lines in muted colors and dramatic, new-looking silhouettes.
Don't get me wrong, I love the mod look of the sixties just as the next person, it's just that it's been done, and done, and done. I'm thinking of the line from the Black Eyed Peas song when Fergie sings, "I'm so 3008, you're so 2000 and late."
I want to look 3008 lately. Or maybe I'll settle for 2050. Anyway, here's what I'm talking about:
