I love seeing older people who are embracing their age. I find it unattractive when women (and men!) are constantly trying to look years younger than they are instead of trying to look the best they can at the age they are. Diane von Furstenburg is a good example. She says that she loves every line, crease, sun spot and gray hair because it reminds her of the long, wonderful life she's lived and her laugh lines remind her of how much she's laughed throughout it. Beautiful. Now think of Dolly Parton. Can you say that you think she's beautiful? Dolly is Dolly, but if she were much more natural and less plastic, I think she could be really beautiful.
I look at this blog called Advanced Style a lot because I love seeing what older people are wearing. I love it when their spirit and their positive, creative personalities come through in their personal style.
They know what looks good on them after many years of trial and error and they wear what makes them feel good!
I hope to have my look down to an exact science when I am living my golden years!
Here is one of my favorite ladies, Rita:
You can see the pieces she repeats almost daily - her silver belt, her rings, her earrings, her black glasses - even her shoes. I'm sure she has her wardrobe narrowed down to a collection of a few pieces she absolutely loves and knows work beautifully for her and her figure. She knows how to pose too!
